Deja Vu

The young man stood poised and restrained on top the rocky enclave; the once great pasture ahead now lay barren and parched. The scars, sprawled across the land are clearly reflective of the enemy stampede that had set up an encampment just beyond the ridge.

The unnatural silence of the deep breath before the battles has always fascinated him. How something could be both terrorizing and yet so settling at the same time intrigued him.

And then, everything suddenly changed. It was as though the entire world, the entire existence he had ever known came crashing down and split apart. Pulled and stretched were the seams of his world until all had been shredded, torn apart into tiny specks of nothingness. But slowly, the world that had become shreds of dust came crawling back; forming firstly into blots, then gathering to create glass-piece like memories, puzzle pieces that glistened and glowed whilst dancing about their own floating axes as they find their way back into design.

Carefully and reluctantly, the world forced itself back into being.

He awoke. The mere blink had felt like aeons when the world was pressed tightly against him.
